This book began as a pursuit to give four of life's most essential states a visual form and find that each one is already made of smaller, nameable feelings.
Four themes. Sixteen flowers. Dozens of compositions that combine them.
Love is made of affection, devotion, adoration, and acceptance. Happiness holds joy, warmth, kindness, and contentment. Peace carries calm, soothe, presence, and harmony. Strength is built from diligence, confidence, understanding, and resilience.
Each page presents a composition of anemone flowers, sometimes one theme alone, sometimes two or three in combination, building toward a final page where all four meet. Every flower is painted with the same three colors: white for light, black for shadow, and one tone that names its specific feeling.
Anne, the anemone who moves through every page, holds the emotional tone of wherever you land.
